THE STORY:
In the throes of the Battle of Bennington, amidst the clash of muskets and the thunder of cannon fire, the Molly Stark Cannon emerged as a symbol of American resilience. Captured by Colonel John Stark's forces in a pivotal moment of the Revolutionary War.
When the fight was imminent, John Stark's legendary words rang out: "There are your enemies, the Red Coats and the Tories. They are ours, or this night Molly Stark sleeps a widow!"
After their victory was secured, the cannon was christened in honor of Molly Stark; a steadfast patriot in her own right.
Today, the Molly Stark stands as a living testament to the American spirit. Every Fourth of July, she is fired three times by the New Boston Field Artillery Company - who maintain the cannon to this day.
With each resounding blast, the cannon embodies the enduring legacy of those who dared to challenge tyranny and forge a nation founded on the principles of liberty and justice for all.
